Applying for a Thailand tourist visa from Nepal? Here's the full 2026 process — documents, fees, the e-Visa portal, and the Digital Arrival Card, explained
Thailand doesn't offer visa-free entry or Visa on Arrival to Nepali passport holders, despite what a lot of outdated blogs claim. You need an approved Tourist Visa (TR) before you fly, applied for entirely online from 2025.
Quick answer: Apply online at thaievisa.go.th for a Tourist Visa (TR) — a single stay of up to 60 days. Processing takes a minimum of 7 working days after fee payment, so apply 3–4 weeks ahead. You'll also need a separate Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) within 72 hours of arrival.
Do You Need a Visa?
Yes. Nepal isn't on Thailand's visa-exemption list or its Visa on Arrival list, so arriving without an approved visa risks denied boarding or entry refusal. The one exception is Nepali diplomatic/official passport holders, who get 90 days visa-free.

- Travel insurance (not mandatory yet, but recommended)
- Minors: birth certificate + notarized consent letter from any non-travelling parent
Documents in Nepali must be translated into English and legalized.
How to Apply
- Scan all documents above.
- Apply online at thaievisa.go.th — in-person submission hasn't been accepted since January 2025.
- Watch your email for follow-up document requests.
- Once ready for payment, deposit the fee at any Global IME Bank branch and get a Manager's Cheque.
- Submit the cheque in person at the Royal Thai Embassy, Kathmandu, Mon–Fri, 09:30–11:30 hrs.
- Wait a minimum of 7 working days (longer in peak season, Nov–Feb).
- Receive and print your approval email — this is your visa.
- Complete the TDAC online within 72 hours of your flight.
- Travel with your approval email, TDAC confirmation, and supporting documents.
Fee
Roughly NPR 5,000 for single entry and NPR 25,000 for multiple entry — non-refundable, and subject to change without notice. The exact figure shows up on the portal at payment stage.
